Why I am learning about vitamins A to E

Not medical advice. I am not a doctor or dietitian. This is what I learned from reading the NHS page, written down in plain English. For advice about your own health, speak to a GP, pharmacist or registered dietitian.

I am Matt. I am an IT consultant in Swansea, and I know a lot more about asset databases than I do about nutrition. That is exactly why I started this site: I want to find out what the vitamins actually do, and I would rather write down what I learn than keep it in my head.

    How this site works

For each vitamin I read the relevant NHS page and write up what it says in plain English. Every post links back to that page so you can read the original, and every post ends with a list of the sources I used. If something is unclear, or I could not find an answer, I say so rather than guess.

I am starting with vitamins A, C and D, then moving on to the B vitamins and vitamin E. The NHS overview page makes one point I want to repeat early on: most people can get the nutrients they need from a varied and balanced diet, although some people may need supplements.

    What this site is not

It is not medical advice, and I am not a doctor, a pharmacist or a dietitian. I will not tell you what to take. If you are pregnant, on medication, or worried about your own levels, please talk to a GP, a pharmacist or a registered dietitian rather than relying on a hobby site.
